Don't Leave Us!

It's impossible to have contempt for somebody like Lincoln Chafee. He's almost (and I stress almost) more loveable than Joe Lieberman (who would have been an ideal choice for Secretary of Defense, notwithstanding the Senate rebalancing of power that would have caused.) I disagree with some of Chafee's foreign policy positions, and its obvious he is a Republican In Name Only, but he was a genuinely likeable Senator. The Republican Party really needs more people friendly to the Human Rights Campaign and Planned Parenthood - there really shouldn't be a contradiction there - and although Chafee is probably justified in considering leaving the GOP, it's a loss.
